SSCC is officially the first full-service, online, outpatient mental health care treatment center in the state of New Jersey, providing accessible individual and group TeleMental Health (TMH) treatment/services to individuals all across the state.

At Supportive Space Counseling Center, it is our goal to provide those we serve with the highest possible quality of outpatient mental health care. We employ a diverse range of clinicians with varying specializations as well as extensive experience working with children (7+), teens, and adults.

Services Offered by SSCC Online Include:

  • Individual Therapy

SSCC is unique and progressive in its approach to mental health. We employ a diverse clinical team, encompassing a variety of specialty areas within our practice, in order to best suit your individual mental health care needs. Our specialty areas include, but are not limited to, anxiety, depression, OCD, bipolar disorder, seperation anxiety, anger management, postpartum depression, eating disorders, addiction and substance abuse disorders, low self-esteem, generalized anxiety disorder, grief and loss, adjustment disorders, PTSD, family conflict, panic disorder, relationship issues, various issues related to prior trauma, and common mental health disorders typically diagnosed in childhood such as ADHD, attachment disorders, etc. (PLEASE NOTE: While SSCC provides services for children, teens, and adults, individual therapy services are only provided for children ages 7-years-old and up.)

Our clinicians are highly trained and experienced in a variety of therapeutic approaches that may be useful in working together in individual therapy. These include, but again are not limited to, Cogntiive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Acceptance and Committment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Play Therapy.

For more information on receiving individual services through SSCC please go to the "our team" tab and move your cursor over each practitioner listed to learn more about them and to schedule an appointment with them today.

  • Life Coaching

The life coaching we provide at SSCC differs from our individual therapy services. The most notable difference is in the credentialing of our life coaching providers. All of our life coaches are nationally board certified through the NBCC and have been provisioned to provide coaching services to adolescents as well as adults.

There are many types of life coaching, and coaching may focus many different things. Some areas that are commonly of focus in life coaching include: one's career, dealing with stress, developing positive habbits, improving relationships, exploring one's spirituality, becoming a new parent, developing enhanced study skills, preparing for college, etc.

Our life coaching services are designed for individuals who are currently stable in terms of their mental health status and who are simply looking to gain ehanced skills needed to adjust to life events and circumstances, or purely for the purpose of self betterment.

  • Therapy/Process Groups

SSCC offers therapy/process groups for teens and adults experiencing a wide array of mental health issues.

There is no experience quite like sitting in a circle, finding the courage to use your honest voice, and discovering what its like to grow and heal simultaneously with others. “Group,” as we call it, is unique because it allows members to work through their struggles and to see themselves clearly through the eyes of others.  It’s one of the few spaces in this world where we can speak openly and honestly about what’s really going on, right here, right now.  When members experience the power of speaking their truth in the moment, personal growth is accelerated and a sense of community is deeply felt.  I’ve seen it happen many times, and it still moves me.

    How does it work?

Because we tend to unintentionally recreate our relationship patterns with new people, Group Therapy is a space to slow things down, figure out what’s happening, and do things differently. The result is that we become better versions of ourselves and learn how to create and nurture the relationships we desire.

If you are not getting what you want and need out of your relationships, group is a special opportunity. While some of our clients have difficulty in the following areas, others just desire to connect more deeply on a personal level.

Participating in our therapy groups can help you:

    Create and maintain close relationships

    Communicate more clearly

    Trust more fully

    Increase self esteem

    Find your voice

    Feel less lonely

    And much more...

    Grow internal strength

  • Psychoeducation & Skill Groups

Psychoeducational groups are a form of group therapy that is less focused on developing relationships between clients, and instead, focused on providing education through information-sharing and the development of healthy coping mechanisms. Rather than allowing the group to guide the direction of therapy sessions, a qualified therapist leads discussions and guides clients by setting goals.

Unlike other forms of group therapy, members of a psychoeducational group often share similar goals. This allows the group to focus on a specific set of needs and unique topics (e.g., healthy communication 101, building healthy relationships, repairing unhealthy relationships, building self-esteem, anxiety management, anger management, conflict resolution, social skills training, etc).

  • 8- and 12-Week Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) Skill Groups

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a structured therapeutic treatment that emphasizes balance between acceptance and change.

The core skills of DBT are zen mindfulness-based, teaching clients how to increase awareness by noticing thoughts, feelings, and body sensations, and then strengthening attention back to the present moment.  Over time, this helps clients cultivate the experience of living life from a place of “wise mind,” or centered intuition,  instead of reacting to life through behavioral patterns, emotional impulses, and black and white thinking.

Developed in the 1970s, DBT is one of the most successful and effective treatments for Borderline Personality Disorder. DBT also helps reduce impulsive behaviors, such as suicidality, self-harm, substance abuse, eating disordered behavior, aggression, isolation, rumination, dissociation, anxiety, depression, and panic attacks. DBT teaches skills to control these behaviors by helping clients build a life worth living through tolerating distress, learning how to bear pain skillfully, regulating emotions, and improving relationships with others.

These groups are available for adolescents and adults and are provided in 8- and 12- week rolling cycles.

  • Support Groups

Support groups are offered as a space where individuals can come together to share their stories, experiences, and lives in a way that helps reduce isolation and loneliness. Oftentimes, we think we are struggling alone, but support groups help us see that there are others who may dealing with similar situations and who in turn can help us get better.

Support groups are open to anyone, but they are often focused on specific topics (i.e. depression, family, divorce, grief, etc.). So, take some time and do some research to find the right one for you and your current situation.

A word on finding the "right" support group: Finding the right support group can be helpful. Do not be discouraged if the first support group you find doesn't quite feel right. You should feel comfortable in the support group space that you choose, so trying different ones may help you determine the best fit.
