Margaret Stachura, MS, LPC

Malgorzata (Margaret) Stachura earned her Master’s of Psychology in Poland and holds New Jersey state licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). Margaret also is a National Certified Counselor. She is a proud graduate of Jagiellonian University of Psychology and holds Bachelor in English from Pedagogical University in Poland. Additionally, Margaret took classes at Kean University in Union, New Jersey as well as University of Castilla La Mancha in Cuenca, Spain during her international student exchange program. Margaret's specializations for counseling include, depression, anxiety disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorders, ADHD, and social skills for age groups ranging from teenagers through adults. Work environments include hospitals, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient program.

Margaret is bilingal and she speaks fluent Polish. She has HRET’s certificate (Interpreter Training for Bilingual Staff in Healthcare) and she performed as an interpreter for Polish-speaking patients many times. As a bilingual LPC, Margret enjoys the ability to counsel culturally diverse populations, especially the Polish-American community.

As a poignant academic achievement, Margaret was a part of a research project in psychopathy conducted in Poland. She has a publication in Problems of Forensic Science: Banasik, M., Gierowski, J. K., Stachura, M. (2014). Affective functioning in female offenders: an analysis of relationship between the level of psychopathy and affective and cognitive empathy. Problems of forensic science, 97, 23-33.

Margaret's counseling philosophy focuses on validating client's problems and aiding with self discovery. Margaret has extensive knowledge in dialectical behavioral therapy and has completed additional continuing education in this subject matter. Furthermore, she is currently working in an outpatient DBT program for teens. Margaret had been trained in Nurtured Heart Approach and she obtained certification in 2018.

During her free time, Margaret enjoys spending time with her family and traveling. She is also pursuing her certification as a Telemental Health Practitioner (BC-TMH).
